Courtney’s Story

Courtney was born April 23,1996 at Porter’s Hospital. Within 7 hours of her coming into this world, a team of Cardiologists from Children’s Hospital of Colorado were standing at my bedside telling our family that Courtney was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and in need of a heart transplant. They said she would only survive a few weeks. She was immediately transported with that team of Doctors to Children’s Hospital and put in NICU. Courtney’s precious gift of life came on May 03, 1996, just 10 days after the most devastating news. We were all so very grateful to her donor and their family for this MIRACLE. In June of 2008 at the age of 12 years we were told she had started to develop Transplant Coronary Artery Disease. She was put on a treatment program for this as there is no cure and eventually she would be in need of a second heart transplant. She waited 7 weeks this time and turned 21 yrs old. She was well aware she was in critical condition, but she was so very brave through it all.On May 17, 2017 the precious gift of life came again for her, a second heart, a true blessing! She fought super hard through the recovery process and is doing awesome now. Without the selflessness of total strangers and the inconceivable generosity of the Donors and their family, Courtney would not have had such a wonderful childhood and now the opportunity to have the chance at becoming a young beautiful woman and fulfilling her dreams. Courtney, myself, our family and friends would like to thank The Remington Family for their love, kindness and support for including us in honoring Samantha’s legacy.
