Amanda’s Story

Amanda was born on October 19, 2010, at Loma Linda University Hospital in California. On October 28, 2010, Amanda underwent surgery to correct her TGA and close the holes in her heart. On November 4, 2010, Amanda went into surgery to have a pacemaker inserted and for the surgeons to close her chest.

In July of 2017, Amanda underwent surgery to repair her aortic valve. From that point, Amanda’s heart function slowly declined, and her cardiologist recommended a heart transplant in July of 2021. Amanda was placed on the transplant list in October of 2021 and went into the hospital on January 10, 2022. On February 22, 2022, Amanda received her new heart.

Since her heart transplant, Amanda has flourished and grown into an intelligent, vivacious, independent, and caring young lady. She can now ice skate, dance, plan for college, and enjoy spending time with her friends and family without the shadow of heart failure hanging over her.

We are so grateful to the wonderful doctors and to the donor and their family for saving Amanda’s life and allowing her to flourish.
